About Addiction to Success

My name is Jorge Patino and I am an alcoholic. My drinking career started in high school. I loved to play soccer and in this community was where I was introduced to alcohol. I grew up from immigrant parents and their main goals was to put food on our table and provide a better future for us. I lived a typical teenage life. I went to school, hung out with friends and on the weekends went out and got shit faced. I thought I was a normal drinker until June 25, 2017. My son’s birthday was a few days away, so we decided to go hang out at Navy Pier in Chicago. I started to drink after church and then continued when we got home. That night, I got into an argument with my wife, locked her out of our house, then decided after hours of drinking that it would be a good idea to clean my weapons. After getting them all out, I changed my mind and decided that I was going to take my life instead. I had a blackout and woke up to find a few of my weapons gone. My wife wouldn’t speak to me the next day and I don’t remember much about what happened.

The next day I decided to stop drinking forever. I had no clue how to do it, I heard about AA but I didn’t know where to start. At that time my brother-in-law had been in the program for a few years, so I made a call to him. He walked me into the first few meetings and after that let me go. June 26, 2017 was my first sober day and the journey has continued. I started the Addiction to Success Coaching Podcast to get the word out about alcohol and drugs. I wanted to prove that even when the odds are against you, SUCCESS IS POSSIBLE. I now have a vision about my life now. That’s something that I had no idea about, before I got sober. I appreciate my life, because I was very close of taking it away with the pull of a trigger. I take action now and I get better results. I used to hesitate on taking action before or over think my actions because of fear. I BELIEVE IN ME. After being sober I believe I can do anything now. I have a different mindset and rely heavily on spirituality. If I can stay sober one day at a time, I know I can keep going with my sobriety.
